Appeal for witnesses following serious road traffic collision – Banbury |
||
|
We are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Banbury. At around 6.50pm yesterday, officers were made aware from South Central Ambulance Service that an electric bike was involved in a collision with a pedestrian at the Ruscote Playground, Ruscote Recreational Park. The rider of the electric bike fled the scene. The victim, a young child, sustained serious injuries and required hospital treatment but has since been discharged. An 18-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, both from Banbury, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving with no insurance and failing to stop. They both remain in police custody at this time. Any collision involving a young person is particularly harrowing, but I would like to thank those that came to the aid of victim at the time of the collision, including the South Central Ambulance Service. We are carrying out a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this collision, with two men being arrested. We would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident as they may have vital information to assist in this investigation. If you saw the electric bike prior or after to the collision, have dash-cam or CCTV footage, please come forward. Anyone with any information, call 101 or report via our website quoting reference 43260298277. Alternatively, you can report this anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
